We think stitching should feel less like following instructions and more like making music. Jam means two things around here: the berry kind — sweet, bright and loud — and a jam session, the kind where you make it up as you go. We want our patterns to feel like both.

One of us does most of the stitching and built the app we chart in. The other runs color and art direction: she picks the palettes, styles the photos, and says the thing nobody wants to hear when a design isn't working. Most designs get argued about before they get stitched. So far that has been the right order.

A collection starts as a mood and a palette before it's a picture. Then it gets charted pixel by pixel in an app we built ourselves, because the tools we found couldn't quite do everything we imagined.

We don't own a printer, so every chart gets test-printed at the copy shop down the street before it goes up. If a page is hard to read at arm's length, we redo it. And in our flagship patterns, one stitch is gold — hidden somewhere in the chart.

Collections drop like albums: all killer, no filler. Print it. Hoop it. Stitch it loud.
